Studio of the Month Melinda Jones (Newly Established in Louisiana!) Thank you Melinda for sharing these photos and narrative with us! In her own words......Every sewing room needs a couch so you can sit back from your work and judge what needs to be done. And just in case you can't decide what to do, you can always take a nap! Finally I am in a house where I have a dedicated sewing room and the closet can be for fabric and supplies. In my last condo I had a carpenter make me a set of cubby holes for my fabric. When I left I had him remove the cubby hole system so I could use it in the new house. The larger squares in the center were part of the closet before I added the cubby holes. It is attached to the wall so no one can pull it down. I love having a long sewing table. It does have an extension on the front that folds up so that I can sandwich small quilts. This is just the standard cutting table which I purchased at Joann's years ago. It has stood the test of time and served me well. At the last retreat I was lucky enough to win 20 squares. The little quilt on the design wall is the first small quilt using those squares. The white streak will be replaced with a strip of flying geese. If you remember, the theme for that retreat was "The Goose Is Loose". What fun we had!
