Classes/Teachers:

Mola Made Easy - Lisa Gorski - Finally I will get to teach the 'Mola'. For some of you who are not familiar with Mola, traditionally it is done by had as a needle-turn applique. This practice is a cultural money maker for the Cuna Indian women from Panama along the Caribbean Sea to Columbia. This is a full day class with the morning half learning the basic 'Mola' by hand and then in the afternoon we will adapt the design using the sewing machine.

Photo to QuiltPat Haas This is a fun raw edge technique class for all skill levels. Pick a photograph or picture (no copyrighted works please) of a flower, building or scene. Before retreat, you will work with Pat to enlarge it into a master drawing with each section labeled for easy reference. This will give you time to "tweak in" your drawing with any details. Then at retreat you will use your drawn master to make each pattern piece, cut them out of fabric and assemble your picture. When everything is in place to your satisfaction you will iron it all down and start the machine work to make it your own piece of art. If you have any questions or need help picking a picture, just talk to Pat.

Four Stars and a Tulip Melinda Harman - You will learn to use Triangles on a Roll to make half-square triangles and quarter-square triangles. These triangle blocks will then be used to make FIVE different small quilts. You should be able to finish at least two of the quilt tops in class. This will depend on your level of sewing. The other three quilt tops will be partially made for you to finish on your own. These small quilts are great to use as gifts. They can be used as table toppers or wall hangings.

Paper Piecing Susan Mastry - Return to the basics and either learn the art of paper piecing, or join me for a refresher course. Chose one of the two most popular patterns that I have taught:

1. Laced Star, where you can use two or four fabrics plus a back-ground. And it’s a beautiful 8" finished block.

2. Starlight Block, where you can just go wild with color options. Then rotate each of the 3" blocks to create an almost unlimited array of patterns. Lots of fun, too. Be-come a convert to paper piecing!

Dressed for a Black Tie Event Pat Moore - If you have avoided hand appliqué….think you do not have the skills to do hand appliqué or are even intimidated by hand appliqué……you have just not found the method that works best for you. This workshop will present a form of the overlay method for placement and will also explore creating thin and graceful stems, sharp points, perfect circles and the dreaded "V"s. The project for the workshop is an original pattern created for the retreat. The goal of the workshop is to remove the stress of tedious preparations and build confidence that all can create their own masterpiece without the angst so often associated with appliqué.

Pineapple Welcome Denise Plonski – In this workshop you will discover how to create a table top decorator quilt which fits over an 8 ½" x 11" frame. The quilt can be changed quickly and easily with the seasons or makes a great gift. We will also discuss some tips and techniques on basic quilting, cutting and pressing, machine appliqué and quilting. We will even have some ideas for more table top quilts. At the end of the day, your project will be nearly complete and ready to frame.

Free Motion Class Holly Watson - Have fun learning several free motion pattern ideas, backgrounds, and techniques from beginner level to more advanced. Two specialties, "McWatsoning" (that's my version of "McTavishing"), and several feather designs.

Charming Star Quilt Sharyl Weinberg - If you have two coordinating charm packs, you can make this easy snuggle-sized quilt. It is a variation of the ever-popular disappearing nine-patch and will look great in any combination of fabrics.

This is made up with a white background and tropical colors in the stars. It would be stunning with a black background and jewel-tones for the stars. The possibilities are endless! Finished size: 55" x 73" - Block size: 13" finished
